Keyano College’s Social Work Diploma Program Receives Reaccreditation to 2027

Posted On Wednesday June 28, 2023

Keyano College is pleased to announce the reaccreditation of its Social Work Diploma Program by the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW) for 2023 – 2027.

After undergoing a comprehensive assessment, the Social Work Diploma Program at Keyano College has successfully demonstrated its compliance with the provincial standards set forth by the Alberta College of Social Workers. This accreditation ensures that students are eligible to become registered Social Workers in the province of Alberta upon graduation.

“May this serve as a formal reminder of the commitment and hard work exhibited by the program in meeting the Accreditation Standards,” says the President of the ACSW Council. “Together, we strive to strengthen the social work profession in Alberta through an ongoing commitment to providing high-quality social work education.”

A significant program component is the practicum placement that allows students to apply their theoretical knowledge outside the classroom. The practicum enables students to develop meaningful community relationships and engage in culturally responsive work.

Arlene Starkes, the Dean of the School of Health & Human Services at Keyano College, remarks on the faculty’s commitment to continuous improvement. “Our faculty’s goal is to ensure we provide the highest-quality programs to our students. Reaccreditation means we are committed to future generations of social work. We will continuously aim to uphold our standards of education, research, and engagement within the field of social work,” explains Starkes.
